2018 MCAs & Individual Awards

Thank you to all of you that submitted your firm’s work for the SMPS Austin 8th Annual Marketing Communications Awards (MCAs)! If you missed this year's deadline of January 8th, please check back next year! The MCAs are open to all members within the A/E/C industry and serve to recognize firms whose marketing collateral, campaigns, and events achieved their marketing goals in a compelling way.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD WINNER

The Community Service Award recognizes an individual of the Austin A/E/C industry who continually demonstrates and promotes volunteerism within the community. The nominees include:

TAHNEE SAUER

Now a marketing engagement specialist in Austin, Tahnee has roots in North Texas where she grew up. Giving back was instilled in her at an early age by participating in Habitat for Humanity Builds, mission trips, and volunteering with community organizations such as Boys & Girls Club. Through life and career lessons, she's recognized how working together always produced better results than going at it alone. Taking the opportunity to give back to one another invests in the foundation of our communities and helps each of us live to our best potential.

Today she lends her creative talents to non-profit organizations, serving on the board of local non-profits, spending a holiday serving those in need or loading lost dogs into her car off a highway and returning them to their owners. To her, service is not only big gestures and organized efforts, but each small act of kindness you can give to someone else.

LEADERSHIP AWARD NOMINEES

The Leadership Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates consistent, driven leadership that impacts their firm and the Austin A/E/C industry as a whole. This person goes out of their way to mentor less-seasoned members of the industry in an effort to create and support the next generation. The nominees include:

PAULETTE GIBBINS

Paulette Gibbins is the Executive Director of the Austin District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a member led organization providing leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. The Austin District Council includes nearly 830 members involved in all aspects of the development and city planning process – private, public, and non-profit.

Gibbins has over 18 years of experience in the real estate development industry as a structural engineer and business developer. Since arriving in Austin in 2002, she has been an active community leader and volunteer. She serves on the Austin Independent School District’s Facility and Bond Planning Advisory Committee (FABPAC), where she helped produce AISD’s first comprehensive 25-year facility master plan and bond recommendations for the initial phase. Her engineering expertise proved beneficial in helping fellow citizen volunteers understand technical information from the district and consultants.

Gibbins also serves on the Education Council for the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. She has previously sat on the board for the Women’s Symphony League of Austin and contributed to the growth of the Society for Marketing Professional Services through nine years of board service, including a tenure as president.

Gibbins holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering from Cornell University. Outside of her work with ULI and other community initiatives, she and her husband, Douglas, enjoy spending time with their three children hiking, biking and exploring all that Austin has to offer.
