As part of a Society-wide governance initiative, SMPS Headquarters has provided updated Model Chapter Bylaws to align all chapters with current governance standards and best practices. The SMPS Austin Board has reviewed the updated bylaws, made the chapter-specific administrative updates permitted by SMPS, and unanimously approved them for a member vote.

Summary of Key Updates:

The proposed bylaws align SMPS Austin with the updated SMPS Model Chapter Bylaws provided by SMPS Headquarters. Updates include revised Board term dates, election timelines, fiscal year dates, provisions for electronic meetings and voting, and other governance and administrative updates required to align with the current SMPS model. No significant changes have been made to member voting rights or the overall chapter governance structure.

If approved by the membership, the updated bylaws will become effective upon certification of the election results by the Chapter and will replace the current chapter bylaws.
